MUSA VELUTINA – PİNK FRUİTED BANANA

For those who want to grow bananas at home, for small garden owners living in southern coastal regions, we would like to introduce a newly produced banana variety.

Pink Fruited Banana – Musa velutina is a dwarf banana species that does not exceed 120 cm in height. It is native to the Assam state of northeastern India. The pinkish leaf stalks on the underside of the leaves are particularly noticeable. Its flowers range in color from pink to orange. The miniature, pink-colored fruits are very attractive. The fruits remain on the plant for months and are edible, although they contain seeds.

It is a banana species that is quite tolerant of cold. When mulched in winter, it has been reported to withstand low temperatures and tolerate frost down to -6°C. Propagation is carried out from seed or by separating suckers. Like other bananas, it prefers well-drained soil rich in organic matter and can be grown in full sun or partial shade.

In landscape use, it is especially suitable for small gardens. It is also a good choice for creating a second row in front of larger banana plants. Like other bananas, it easily produces suckers and quickly multiplies to form groups.

It should also be noted that it is a suitable choice for those who wish to grow bananas indoors in pots.
