Natural Life
In the Palm Center area, which has been under protection for over 30 years, many living species have found a habitat alongside the growing plants. In the large pond, there are Japanese “Koi” fish, and in the canals and our Turtle Pond there are native fish of the region, as well as aquatic animals such as crabs, shrimp, freshwater turtles, frogs, and water snakes, along with aquatic plants.
Some reptiles such as lizards, land turtles, snakes, rabbits, mice, and martens; many insect species such as butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies, bees, and caterpillars; and various birds such as woodpeckers, kingfishers, robins, tits, crows, sparrows, swallows, starlings, blackbirds, wild ducks, moorhens, coots, herons, and owls are among the residents or visitors of the garden.
The photographs show some of the insect and animal species found in our garden.
