CALLİCARPA BODİNİERİ VAR.GİRALDİİ’PROFUSİON’-BODİNİER BEAUTYBERRY
Callicarpa is a genus comprising approximately 140 species within the Verbenaceae family, generally distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. The genus includes both deciduous and evergreen species.
The cultivar selected for propagation, ‘Purple Pearl’, is native to western and central China. This cultivar has been awarded a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) medal and is hardy to temperatures of –15 to –20 °C. It is a deciduous shrub, reaching up to 3 meters in height and 2.5 meters in spread. The elliptic, dark green leaves can grow up to 18 cm in length.
In mid-summer, the plant produces small pink flowers arranged in clusters. These flowers later develop into bright, purple, pearl-like berry clusters, which become especially ornamental in late autumn and winter, remaining on the plant after the leaves have fallen.
This plant has been propagated at our center and was introduced for sale in autumn 2003. Specimens grown in 25 cm containers, with a height of 70–100 cm, are available ex-warehouse/greenhouse delivery at a price of 16,800,000 Turkish Lira (VAT included).
